The Witch Beyond the Summit
Not all journeys move in straight lines. Some spiral upward through victory, pleasure, and dissolution guided by unseen forces. One such ascent moves across the cards of The Sabbath Tarot and The Sabbath Oracle: a mountain path, a gathering of vessels, a cosmic throne where the figure of the Goat presides at each stage.
6 of Staffs (The Tarot)

The first glimpse of the path is a darkened forest, where the Goat stands victorious atop the mountain. Six crossed staffs mark the foreground, a gateway of trials overcome. Yet the climb is not solitary.
Amid the swirling clouds above the treetops, a lone figure on a broom passes through the stormed sky barely visible, almost missed by the eye. The witch watches. The Goat’s gaze rises, aware that the path still ascends beyond the visible.
The 6 of Staffs is triumph after struggle, but it cautions: the true journey is not yet done. Those who climb must learn to listen, even in the moment of victory.
10 of Vessels (The Tarot)

The next glimpse of the Goat is not upon a peak, but amid a great feast of spirit. At the top of marble steps, beneath a shadowed archway, the Goat now appears enthroned behind a golden vessel, an image of fulfillment and shared joy. Two figures stand before the chalice, mirrored in form, offering and receiving the flow of the vessel between them.
Before them, ten ornate cups stand aligned vessels of joy, family, communion, and completion. Here the Goat smiles faintly, the fire still flickering between his horns. Triumph has given way to delight not in isolation, but in union. Yet the unseen current remains: the witch’s flight has shaped the path to this moment. It is the unseen voice that led the seeker here, though it does not yet call them onward.
The 10 of Vessels speaks of shared bliss but warns: to mistake the feast for the summit is to fall into stillness.
The World (The Tarot)

The final vision is not of mountain or banquet, but of cosmic wholeness. Here the Goat is fully enthroned in the heavens, seated in lotus above the turning Earth. One hand gestures solve, the other coagula the ancient cycle of dissolution and creation. The crescent moons flank the figure, vessels of change. The Goat has become not a victor or host, but the axis of the great cycle itself. The body is unbound, the gaze eternal.
For The World is not an end, but a door that opens again and the witch who rides between worlds will always be there to beckon the next step.
The Whisperer (The Oracle)

At last, the witch, unseen guide is revealed in full. Here the Whisperer rides the currents of cloud and smoke broom in hand, gaze turned toward mysteries yet unseen. He has flown beside the seeker through every stage: ascent, union, completion always present, always watching.
Now his flight continues, for his work is never done. The path circles ever onward. The Whisperer is the spirit of subtle guidance, of craft, of initiation into deeper vision. He teaches that behind every triumph, beyond every feast, and within every cosmic vision there remains more to seek, more to listen for.
His message is clear: the journey never ends, it transforms.
